Shostakovich Piano Quintet & Dvořák Piano Quintet

Hiroko Sasaki, Piano Tatiana Samouil, Violin Clara Neubauer, Violin Dov Scheindlin, Viola Zvi Plesser, Cello

Five acclaimed musicians perform two celebrated piano quintets. Strikingly different in emotional content and compositional style, the piano quintets of Dvořák and Shostakovich are both highly regarded as masterpieces of the genre.

Hailed as "a true artist at work" (Harris Goldsmith), pianist Hiroko Sasaki is an avid chamber musician and soloist who has appeared with the world's leading orchestras, including the Philharmonia Orchestra and the Prague Symphony Orchestra. Tatiana Samouil, a laureate of seven of the world's most prestigious international competitions—including the Queen Elisabeth and Tchaikovsky—appears regularly in recital and as a soloist with distinguished orchestras around the world. Praised for her "seductive artistry" and "rare grace" (Classical Voice North America), violinist Clara Neubauer has appeared at some of the world's most prestigious festivals. Acclaimed by the New York Times as an "extraordinary violist" of "immense flair," Dov Scheindlin is a member of the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra and has been the violist of the Penderecki and Chester String Quartets. As a member of the Arditti quartet, he gave nearly 100 world premieres and won the Gramophone Award. Zvi Plesser has enjoyed a wide-ranging career as a soloist, chamber musician, educator, and music director for over 30 years. He has collaborated with many of the world's greatest orchestras and conductors, including the Berlin Philharmonic and the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, and serves on the faculty at The Juilliard School.
